My name is Derek O'Haire. I am very excited to be part of the St. Dominic School Community for another great school year! I am very eager to work and collaborate with my colleagues, as well as the great students within the school.

I graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education. Throughout my undergraduate years at NYIT, I was fortunate to receive many awards. I was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key International Honor Societies, and won a NCAA National Championship while on the lacrosse team at NYIT. Upon graduation, I received the John. J. Theobald Award in Teacher Education.

Still eager to learn, I entered the Instructional Technology Program at NYIT. This program really intrigued me because it combined my passion for teaching both students and teachers along with exploring the latest teaching technologies.

My previous teaching experience includes being a Computer/Technology Teacher for grades K-6, and a Second Grade Teacher in Public Schools in Nassau County.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports and especially coaching on all levels. In my present position as a coach and Middle School Athletic Director, I demonstrate to my student-athletes the importance of character, integrity, commitment and self-confidence that are valuable both in the classroom and on the field.
